Introduction
This document details the firmware upgrade procedure for an SA380 logger using a USB stick.
Pre-requisites
The firmware image files (e.g. “SA380_v2.6.ZIP)
A blank USB stick
Procedure
The following steps are required. It is necessary to perform ALL steps for each physical logger.
Where master and slave loggers are operating together, ALL loggers should be upgraded
together.
Extract content of the ZIP file
Extract the content of the ZIP file to an empty USB stick. Once created, the USB stick will
contain the following:

Verify existing firmware version
From the main menu, choose “Menu”, and then select “About”. You should be presented with a
screen similar to that shown below:
Power off logger
From the main menu, choose Shutdown and when prompted, press OK.
Remove existing external USB stick [Master Only]
Insert “Firmware upgrade” USB stick
USB stick created in 3.1.
Power on logger
The logger will power up as normal, however after approximately 15 seconds, the logger will BEEP
twice. This indicates that the firmware upgrade has been performed.
Verify new version number
From the main menu, choose “Menu”, and then select “About”. You should be presented with a screen showing the updated version number
Power off logger
From the main menu, choose Shutdown and when prompted, press OK.
Remove firmware upgrade USB stick [Master Only]
The firmware upgrade stick will now no-longer contain the necessary files for performing subsequent
firmware upgrades and must be re-constructed for later use.
Reinstate Data logging USB Stick
The data logging USB stick should be placed back into the unit.
Power logger on
The logger should boot as normal and begin logging.
