The information below is out of date. It is now possible to configure the device directly from centrix. This is now the recommended method.

Warning

The following is intended as reference only. It is not advisable that these steps be undertaken without guidance from MPEC or in-depth knowledge of the product.

Incorrect modification of any of the configuration files can result the SA-SSI data logger becoming unresponsive and non-operational.

The configuration on the SSI logger consists of several text files which can be edited on a PC. These need to be extracted from the logger, edited and then reinstated. It is possible to “brick” the logger if these files are edited incorrectly.

Navigate to the configuration menu:

Enter 12345 as the pass code (the default is 12345):

Select “Save Configuration To USB”:

Before editing the configuration, take a backup copy!

The “init.txt” file contains the logger’s start-up instructions, which will include a line as below:

ssi uart1=/dev/ttyUSB0 uart2=/dev/ttyUSB1 cfg=scripts/STPANCB.xml

This tells the logger that the file STPANCB.xml contains the SSI configuration for this logger.

Load the relevant ssi configuration file (i.e. STPANCB.xml in this case) into a text editor (notepad will not suffice, use wordpad or (recommended) notepad++).

You need to change the expected identifier to agree with the correct SSI Interlocking value.

This is at the end of the file, as in this example:

The value should be a positive integer from 1 to 63.

You may find configurations which contain “-1” which has been used as a placeholder.

Save the file When finished, save the file back to the USB stick.
