Summary

HPSS Asset

Asset Configuration

The HPSS asset parameters have changed. Now, in addition to swing orientation, the rail type, actuator side and the presence of toe and supplementary (supp) sensors can be configured:

The LVDT movement and datum reference channel names have been updated. Instead of Normal and Reverse they are now named Extend and Retract (for example ‘Normal Toe LVDT Movement’ is now ‘Extend Toe LVDT Movement’).

The asset also supports Toe 2 LVDT movement and datum reference channels for both sides and a second Brake Status digital channel, to better support the Mark 2 HPSS assets.

Status Page

Introducing the HPSS Asset Status page, this view of the asset is designed to show the current status of the asset using the latest data.

image-20260323-175228.png

The Status page is comprised of nine panels, each designed to show you a different view of the current state, or recent operations of the asset:

HPSS Status

This panel shows the current position, LVDT measurements and digital states of the asset.

The graphic in the middle of the panel shows the current position of the asset, using the latest LVDT data.
Which side the actuator is on is displayed, and therefore which side is Extend or Retract. The sensor states will change according to the value of the actuator side parameter.

The Retract and Extend sections either side of the graphic show the latest LVDT measurements. The offset uses the datum reference to show distance from open and closed.

Finally, the digital states of the most important assets channels are displayed in the top left and right boxes.
The top left box contains digital channel states for alert channels, while the top right box shows the states of operational status channels.

The indicators are green when the channel state is UP and red when the channel state is DN, with the exception of Fault Tolerant which is inverted. If any of the channels are missing or have no data then they default red.

Alarm States

The alarm states panel shows every available asset alarm, including alarms which haven’t been set up yet.
For each alarm the table shows it’s current state (red for active, blue for active and reverted to normal, green for clear), the number of times the alarm has raised today, the current value of the relevant asset channel, the alarm threshold (where relevant) and the timestamp of the last alarm raise.

The HPSS asset has 12 capture trace level alarms, 6 Hi and 6 HiHi, these have been combined into 6 rows on this table.
The combined alarms are displayed with a gauge, the yellow section shows the threshold from the Hi alarm and the red section shows the HiHi.

HPSS Latest Position

The latest position gauges are identical to the end of swing position gauges on the Asset Playback page, but they show the latest data from each LVDT movement sensor. This means that these gauges can show LVDT data that isn’t associated with a points swing, e.g. movements caused by vibrations from trains passing over.

Points Swing

This shows the number of swings in each direction, using the Motor Current capture traces.

Datum Reset

This panel shows the date and time of the last datum reset and the number of datum resets that have occurred during the selected time range (30, 60 or 90 days).

Histogram & Trend Graphs

The existing Points histogram and trend graphs have been repurposed for the Asset Status page; these graphs show data from the Motor Current capture traces.

At the top of the panel are controls for selecting which direction and capture trace feature to display on the graphs, as well as a time range selection with options ranging from 7 to 90 days.

Channel States

This shows the value and timestamp of the latest and previous event of each channel on the asset, similar to the channel states panel on the Playback page.
Both the Status and Playback channels states now show the end capture trace value in the value columns for capture channels.

Notes

The standard notes component that can be seen across most of Centrix.
This can be used to store any useful information about this asset.

Notes for the currently viewed asset can also be seen at the bottom of the Asset Playback and Alarm pages and the asset edit page.

Playback Page

Support for Additional Toe Sensor

Now the HPSS has channels for Toe 2, it has been added to the existing asset playback page swing graph overlays and swing position gauges:

Fault Tolerant Mode Indicator

The HPSS Asset Playback page now includes the Fault Tolerant status on the HPSS Data panel:

Swing Position Alarm

The HPSS Swing Position Alarm triggers when any of the HPSS LVDT Movement sensors have drifted from the corresponding datum reference values.
The alarm will now process data from the toe 2 sensors and has new thresholds which allow how far from the datum reference each sensor can get before the alarm raises.

There are two thresholds for each sensor position (Toe, Toe#2, Supp#1 and Supp#2), Open Rail Side and Closed Rail Side.
The Open Rail Side threshold sets how far from the datum reference value, open or closed depending on the position the machine is in, the LVDT Movement end value can be towards the open side and the Closed Rail Side thresholds sets how far towards the close side it can be before the alarm raises.
The alarm can be generated from the Asset Alarms page or using the Bulk Generate Asset Alarms feature on the Asset list, the alarm thresholds default to 75% of the LVDT detection limits from Network Rail HPSS training document.

If a HPSS asset has the Swing Position alarm configured, the green sections on swing position gauge will change to match the thresholds:

image-20260318-164412.png

No Alarm Configured

If the asset does not have a Swing Position alarm configured, the existing default green sections are displayed.
The defaults are +/- 2 for both toe sensors, +/- 3 for the supp 1 sensors and +/- 4 for the supp 2 sensors.

Alarm Configured with Default Thresholds

Here the alarm has the default thresholds (see above alarm edit page screenshot).

image-20260319-113941.png

Alarm Configured with Custom Thresholds

Here the alarm has the most of the default thresholds but the toe thresholds have been tightened considerablly (0.2mm for closed side and 1.6mm for the open side).
The green section has been shortened on both sides and the position is now exceeding the threshold towards the closed side, which makes the box showing the difference from the datum reference value turn red.

Minor amendments and fixed issues

  • The Points Analysis Report now supports all points asset types that have capture channels.

  • Fixed an error that would occur when navigating by alarm raise HPSS Points assets.

  • Lamp Duty Cycle Report now correctly processes assets that have the same channel assigned to multiple asset channels.

  • Channels with square brackets in the name was causing a virtual channel validation error.

  • Performance has been improved for loading Channels for lists and item selectors.
