Prerequisites

dUpgrade can be used to upgrade firmware on one or multiple SA380TX devices over an IP network. This network can typically be:

  • Over air, using a 2G or 3G wireless connection
  • Over a wired Ethernet LAN network
  • via a point-to-point Ethernet link between SA380TX and a computer.

Before you can upgrade any SA380TX logger using dUpgrade, you must know the IP address of the SA380TX you wish to upgrade,

Whilst it is possible to find the device IP address from the SA380TX display, clearly this only works if you are on site. It is therefore important to keep good records of SA380TX IP addresses if firmware is to be upraded from a remote location.

Network Requirements

In order to be able to use dUpgrade with the SA380TX in this way, the following network requirements must be met.

  • The IP address of the SA380TX must be "visible" to the device using dUpgrade (Eg. there must be no NAT between SA380TX and dUpgrade machine)
  • The following ports and services must be permitted by the network firewall,
    • TCP - Port 21

    • TCP - Port 65000

    • TCP - Port 80
    • UDP - Port 40134

How to find the "Over Air" and Ethernet IP addresses

The IP address of the SA380TX's wired Ethernet connection and GSM modem connection can be discovered on the "About" screen on the user Interace.

  • Auto IP / Statis IP is the address of the wired Ethernet connection
  • GPRS IP is the address of the wireless connection

How to connect "Point-to-Point" between a computer and SA380TX

Please follow the intsructions on this page: Make a Point-to-Point Ethernet Connection to a SA380TX. Make a note of the IP Address. You will need it shortly
