First connect to the SA380TX unit over a dial-up or an Ethernet connection as per the manufacturer’s instructions.
Open the web browser on your computer.
Enter http://[the IP address of the data logging unit you have accessed]/config into the address bar.
The IP address that you enter might be different to ’10.0.1.1’. This can be checked by pressing the ‘About’ button in the ‘Options’ menu.
When prompted for a user name and password enter the following:
User Name: sa380user
Password: sa380user
A page similar to the one below should then be displayed. This is the Web Config Tool for the MPEC SA380TX.
Once this page is displayed you can begin to add the new sensor type.
Click on the XML tab in the top left to navigate to the XML for the data logger.
Scroll down to the section titled <ConfigSens>.
At the bottom of this section <ConfigSens> is displayed again. Create a new line before this and type, or copy and paste the following:
<sens id="13" f="Rail Temp" lock="0" dp="0" units="mA" typ="nonlin" a="-110.13" b="20.961" c="-0.7242" zero="0" avg="DC RMS"/>
The sequence below shows an example of this.
There are usually 12 default sensor types already stored on the data logging unit.
It is important to increment the ‘id’ of the sensor that you have just added by making the ‘id’ 1 greater than the previous sensor, e.g. if the sensor previous to the newly added one has an id of 12 (id="12"),
then the newly added sensor requires an id of 13 (id="13"), to ensure that the id’s kept are unique.
The sensor name can be set by typing it into the f="" section.
Once this new line is entered press the ‘Set Config on Logger’ button in the top left hand corner of the page.
After doing this the new sensor should then appear in the drop down list used for sensor selection.
To Navigate back to this click on the ‘Configuration’ tab in the top left had corner.
The new sensor can now be selected and set.
